A rare and fascinating piece of Aussie muscle car history – this 1975 XB Falcon GS Hardtop is a dealer-modified tribute to the legendary John Goss Special. Finished in Polar White with dealer-applied blue highlights and orange pin striping, this car was one of a very small number of Goss-spec builds that were created for customers who missed out on the initial Ford release. Built with all the same options as a factory John Goss, minus the paint scheme, it’s a genuine talking point wherever it goes. Featured in Australian Muscle Car magazine back in issue #78.

Perfect for cruising on your own or with friends, this GS delivers the presence and nostalgia of the Goss nameplate with the uniqueness of a dealer-personalised touch. The original owner believed his whole life it was a true Goss – and it certainly presents that way, right down to its day-one delivery appearance. Other similar examples have surfaced over the years, including a couple finished in Walnut Glow, adding weight to this fascinating footnote in Aussie Ford history.

Currently on club registration and driven often, however as the club rego isn't transferrable, the owner is happy to provide a blue slip for the car for NSW buyers (who are also welcome to take ownership of the personalised plates that the owner has acquired for the car, those being "JG 0351".

Body:

All original factory panels with a full restoration completed approximately 25 years ago. The Polar White exterior still looks striking with its unique dealer-applied blue and orange Goss livery. The paint overall presents well from a distance, but upon closer inspection, there are numerous areas of humidity bubbling/surface rust spots under the paint throughout the car. Virtually no rust beyond the bubbles, and the body remains solid throughout. However, it would benefit from an exterior respray.

Engine:

Retains its original matching-numbers Cleveland V8; however, it has been rebuilt as a 351, running strong and sounding great. Tasteful mods in the interest of reliable cruising include a mild cam (1 step up from stock), bolt-on roller rockers and 4-barrel Holley. It’s a reliable and enjoyable cruiser that benefits from the proven toughness and sound of the Cleveland. The engine bay presents clean and tidy, with period-correct details throughout.

Driveline:

The factory C4 automatic transmission shifts smoothly and reliably; it was rebuilt during the restoration and more recently received fresh seals to ensure it is reliable and clean for years to come. Likewise, the original BW diff has been serviced and new seals fitted, making it a great car to jump in and enjoy, whether cruising through the suburbs or heading out for a weekend getaway.

Wheels & Exhaust:

The factory painted 12-slot wheels with good tyres. The exhaust is as per factory spec and sounds great without being obnoxious – just the right tone for a car of this pedigree.

Interior:

The white Falcon GS interior is presented in excellent restored condition. The dash, seats, and trim all show care and preservation since restoration, with minimal signs of age. The overall feel is that of an authentic 1970s Ford muscle car.

Overall:

This XB GS Hardtop is more than just a cool cruiser – it’s a rare chapter in the John Goss story. With its unique background, solid mechanicals, and standout presence, it’s perfect for someone who wants something a bit different, a bit special, and full of character. Inspections welcome.
